Has studied several instrumets: Voice (12 years on-and-off, with Jay Shir, Chagit Goldberg and currently - Vered Dekel); piano (12 years on-and-off, with Liora Ziv-li, Pamala Hickman, Aya Schleifer, Alen Rozenfeld and Ittai Rozenbaum); recorders and baroque flute (Idit Shemer); and various other instruments, in passing. Currently studies jazz singing and multi-disciplinary composition at the Jersalem High Academy of music and Rimon school of contemporary music. Amongst her musical achievments so far - Maya won first place in a song-interpretation contest held at the Jlm academy of music the Academy, twice (2006, 2008); sang with the Be'er Sheva Sinfonieta orchestra (2009); acted as musical manager, arranger and conductor of the Metsada annual memorial ceremony (2007, '08, '09); gave voice lessons and was in charge of a small vocal enseble at the "Yad Harif" conservatory in Tzora (2008, and is still working there); organized, and participated in, a series of benifit concerts for the Israeli organization ELEM - aiding youth in distress; participated in the Berkley-Rimon workshops at the Red Sea Jazz festival and performed at several of the festival's venues (2008); served as "house singer" for the restaurant "Schleifer" (2007); participated in the first Jerusalem-jazz-festival (2006); and has been singing with various bands during the past three years. In addition, is a largely active participant in school ensembles and various musical projects, as a performance/ recording artist, arranger and composer (styles varying from contemporary classical works through pop, rock, musicals, Israeli and jazz). This year has been largely devoted to her last year of her Bmus and to theatre productions: So far, Maya has taken part in a "RENT" preview ("Seasons of Love" solo), "Almost the Bride of Dracula" (as Dracula's mother) and "the Accomplices" (Laura, Theresa). Maya has been singing since she remembers herself, and music has always been a curative place of solace and inspiration in her life.
